The Rotary Club of Livingston Parish has received a Rotary District 6200 Grant to install Peace Poles at Livingston Parish public middle schools.
What is a Peace Pole?
A Peace Pole is a monument that displays the message May Peace Prevail On Earth in the language of the country where it is placed. It usually displays additional languages meaningful to the host site. Ours includes English, Spanish, and French.
Why Middle Schools?
It is our hope that we can install the peace poles and conduct a short presentation on peace and conflict resolution at a time prior to the time students reach high school, in hopes of eliminating (or at least reducing) some of the “drama” that students and teachers experience at that age.
